+ What is rush?

Rush is a series of events that are designed to help our brothers network with individuals who cherish brotherhood and professionalism as much as we do and allow our rushees to see if Alpha Kappa Psi is a good fit. For more information on the specific dates and times of our rush events, please refer to our calendar on our website or Facebook.

+ What makes Alpha Kappa Psi different from other business fraternities?

Alpha Kappa Psi differs from other business fraternities due to its focus on the balance between professionalism and brotherhood. Additionally, we are open to students of all majors and have a well-connected alumni network that is very engaged and involved. Thus, Alpha Kappa Psi offers the tools and resources for one to succeed in any field of one’s own interest and also offers the personal connections and relationships between members that will last even past college.

+ What kind of rush candidates are we looking for?

There is no predetermined image of the perfect rush candidate. We recognize that there exists a spectrum of qualities, contributions, and skills that various individuals can bring forth. Therefore, we evaluate each candidate holistically as well as by individual merit. Please note that we are not looking entirely for “complete packages”--we seek prospective potential within each candidate which may be further developed during the pledge process.

+ Alpha Kappa Psi is a professional business fraternity, but what if I am not a business major?

Alpha Kappa Psi offers an equal opportunity to individuals in all academic departments. Our chapter alone here at UC Irvine consists of members ranging from business to computer science to engineering majors and more.

+ What is pledgeship and what can I expect from it?

Pledgeship is an extensive development program that exposes new members to business and professionalism. Although challenging, our pledge program is designed to simulate training for an actual company. This is done through team-building, refining your interview and public speaking skills, and practical experience. We hope that by the end of the program, you will have the leadership abilities necessary to seek out your future career goals as well as contribute to the brotherhood of our chapter, Pi Psi.

+ What is the expected time commitment of pledging?

Pledging for Alpha Kappa Psi can be compared to taking an additional 4-unit course. More details as well as dates and times will be provided.

+ If I do not recieve a bid, can I rush again?

Yes. Although we have an abundance of excellent participants every rush, we can only extend bids to a limited amount of candidates. We highly encourage those who did not receive a bid to rush again during the next rush quarter (Fall or Spring Quarter). Determination and personal development are characteristics we view highly in rush candidates.
